Q: What is Secure Messages?

Secure Messages is the safe and easy way to communicate with Customer Service using the Internet. It offers an extra level of security that allows you to ask questions and get answers about your Discover® Card Account through the Account Center.

Unlike e-mail, which is not secure when sent over the Internet, communication via Secure Messages is protected because messages are sent and received within the Account Center. Tell me more about the safety of Secure Messages.

Using Secure Messages is simple:
  • Log into the Account Center.
  • Send us your Account inquiry using Secure Messages.
  • Most inquiries are handled within 24 hours!
Q: What happens to my inquiry once it is submitted using Secure Messages?

A:
Once you've submitted an inquiry:
  • Your message goes directly to a Customer Service Representative.
  • Your inquiry is reviewed.
  • If you like, we'll notify you by e-mail when we've responded to your inquiry.
  • Log into the Account Center, and the response will be waiting for you in Secure Messages.

Q: Is it safe to send questions about my Account using Secure Messages?

Yes, we created Secure Messages to provide you with a safe way to ask questions and get answers about your Account using the Internet.

When using Secure Messages, your personal Account information is protected:
  • All messages are transmitted using SSL Encryption, the Internet standard in secure browser technology.
  • You are the only one with access to your Secure Message since, in order to write and view messages, you log into the Account Center using your personal user ID/Account Number and password.
Q: Can I contact Customer Service via e-mail?

A:
For security reasons, it is not safe to contact Customer Service via e-mail. That's why we've created Secure Messages.
However, for general inquiries or comments about Discovercard.com, you can contact us via e-mail. Please do not e-mail sensitive personal information such as your:
  • Account Number
  • Social Security number
  • Mother's maiden name
